Sweats for Vets

2024 Sweats for Vets distribution at Martinsburg VA…..50 members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, VFW, Knights of Columbus and family were privileged to meet with 225 Veterans and provide them with over 500 new Sweat Outfits along with socks, slippers and a “lot of love” from 100’s of children throughout Northern Virginia in the form of “Thank you for your Service” cards. Additionally, a significant financial contribution was provided to Director Terry Stotler for 100% use by the Veterans to meet daily needs. We were blessed to have Aux. Bishop Joseph Coffey (Archdiocese, Military Services, USA) join all of us for the presentation and opening prayers. 18 years ago, this project took form by the Knights of Columbus OLOH Council #12791 and JP11 Assembly #2914 with distribution of 40 outfits. Over the years, momentum and enthusiasm for this event (as noted above and now especially from local communities such as Vistas of Lansdowne and Lansdowne Woods) has made for new Sweat collections to easily exceed 1,000 along with donations from many sources. This generosity will allow for more support to other VA facilities throughout DC and Virginia. Slainte’
